Bosch Appliances Selected For KSU Solar House

Huntington Beach, CA - Bosch home appliances were selected by Kansas State University as the featured appliances for the university's recent 2007 "Solar Decathlon," a competition to promote awareness of energy efficiency and to foster research and development in energy production technologies, the

company announced.

According to the appliance manufacturer, Bosch products showcased in the competition's Solar Decathlon House included the "Axxis" Washer and Condensation Dryer, the Bosch Wall Oven and the Bosch "Integra" Dishwasher.

"Bosch is pleased to be included in this innovative project, which brings heightened awareness to the importance of energy efficiency in all aspects of daily life," said Franz Bosshard, president and CEO. "We are proud to be a part of the Kansas State University solar house, created by an impressive team on the forefront of green thinking."

The competition, which took place recently in Washington DC, challenged teams to design and construct a small demonstration house that runs entirely on solar energy.

The competition criteria include the sufficiency of the house's solar panels to power its systems, the house's ability to maintain comfortable interior conditions and the appropriateness of the home's design, according to competition sponsors.
