HDTV sweeps CES floor: manufacturers roll out prototypes of new television sets.

The DTV sets are here. That was die message at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, as a bevy of TV set manufacturers including Sony, Zenith, Thomson, Panasonic and Philips showed prototype HDTV sets. Most were large rear-projection units measuring over 50 inches, although some manufacturers also showed HDTV-capable 16:9 flat-panel displays and prototypes of smaller direct-view HDTV sets and DTV converter boxes for use with existing analog units.
