NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2002
Stentor(R), a leader in medical image and information management, today announced the beta launch of iSite Enterprise for Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
Stentor is one of the premiere healthcare adopters of the Tablet PC and will be showcasing the new iSite solution today in New York at the official launch of Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
"We are pleased to be working with Stentor to bring the iSite digital imaging system to the Tablet PC," said Alexandra Loeb, vice president of the Tablet PC division at Microsoft Corp. "Healthcare is becoming a fast-paced, mobile environment that relies on instant access to information. The iSite solution and the flexible Tablet PC form factor are a natural fit for delivering immediate value to this industry."
The Tablet PC represents the evolution of the business notebook personal computer. It marks a new direction for notebook PCs, adding pen-based technologies to existing notebook functionality and enabling Windows XP-compatible applications to take advantage of various input modes, such as pen and voice-based data. The Tablet PC features high-powered, efficient processors, a lightweight design, long battery life and built-in wireless capability.
"The Tablet PC is a powerful new tool that arms physicians and radiologists with instant and secure access to medical images and patient information anywhere in the hospital, saving time and improving patient care," said Oran Muduroglu, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stentor. "iSite Enterprise has helped healthcare institutions broaden their enterprise-wide capabilities and no longer be tied to the radiology department for image and information retrieval. The Tablet PC represents the next step in this healthcare evolution."
"Stentor's iSite Enterprise has been instrumental in creating a more efficient workflow for physicians and radiologists, allowing us to view digital images and patient information from any computer in the hospital network," said Paul Chang, M.D. and Director of Radiology Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health System. "Now, the Tablet PC takes this a step further, with handwriting recognition options and wireless capabilities that have the potential to completely reinvent the healthcare environment. Everyone, from the hospital administrator to the patients themselves, will benefit from the time and money savings this new level of mobility will create."
Stentor's iSite(TM) Enterprise application is a no-risk, comprehensive solution that enables the immediate delivery of diagnostic quality images to the desktop computer of every physician in a healthcare network. Stentor's no-risk business model allows hospitals to participate in a 30-day trial, which enables physicians immediate access to softcopy images and allows the IT department to experience how easily the system integrates into the hospital's infrastructure.
iSite(TM) Enterprise can simultaneously support hundreds of users without any noticeable loss of speed. It runs on standard desktop PCs and off-the-shelf servers, making the system ideal for use with a hospital's existing information technology infrastructure.
iSite(TM) 3.0 includes iSite Enterprise, iSite Radiology and iVault. iSite Radiology is a primary-diagnosis radiology-reading station and is the first diagnostic-reading station to present a complete overview of prior exams and patient history on a separate navigation console, dedicating the monitor space for image display. iVault is an always online long-term image storage solution designed for the multi-year storage of medical images. iVault uses a unique online medical imaging data storage model that stores all image data on an active image server and allows immediate data accessibility to all iSite users across the enterprise, eliminating the need for complex pre-fetch or auto-route schema.
