COSTA MESA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1997--CMS Enhancements Inc., a leading supplier of mass storage solutions, has been purchased from AmeriQuest Technologies.

In a separate announcement made yesterday, AmeriQuest stated it will sell the assets of its CMS subsidiary to CMS General Manager Kenneth Burke. Burke will assume control of the company and will serve as president.

CMS was originally founded in 1983 as a provider of computer system hard drives and peripherals. In 1993, the company changed its name to AmeriQuest Technologies and concentrated its business on computer product distribution.

The company retained the CMS product line and CMS Enhancements functioned as a subsidiary. Burke was named general manager in 1995.

While operating as a subsidiary, CMS retained its identity as a leader in the mass storage industry. Under Burke's direction, CMS has emerged as the industry's leading provider of notebook storage products including notebook hard drive upgrades, as well as network CD-ROM tower servers.

Over three million CMS storage solutions are installed in 61 countries around the globe at government organizations, universities and companies such as American Express, Bank of America, Coca Cola, Clorox, Ford Motors, Johnson & Johnson, Marriott, New York General Hospital, Shell Oil and Texaco.

A veteran of over 25 years in the storage peripheral industry, Burke previously served 14 years with Mountain Computer Inc. in various senior executive positions. Prior to Mountain, Burke managed the development of the 5.25-inch floppy disk for Verbatim Inc. and was instrumental in implementing Verbatim's production facility in Ireland. He has also served as engineering manager for Illumination Industries.
