Content is king. Just the thought of that phrase--much less publishing it in a magazine under my byline--makes me cringe. After all, somewhere close to the top of the "Rules for Good Writing" list lies the maxim "Avoid cliches at all costs."
Thing is, cliches usually become cliches because they're true, because they capture a notion that's worth reminding ourselves of when we lose focus on what's really important.
