Korean LG latest to announce DVD recorder.

Korean manufacturer LG Electronics has thrown its hat into the DVD recorder 'ring', announcing a TV-based model for introduction to US market in first half 2001. LG (USA; +1/201 816 2000; www.lgeus.com) has chosen to back the DVD-RW format championed by Pioneer, even though it was not cited by latter as a supporter earlier this year (see 2000/193a1). Company believes global market for DVD-RW recorders will hit 10m units in 2004.
