DVD-ROM upgrade kit starts to ship.

A $600 upgrade kit from Diamond Multimedia to enable personal computers to play back DVD-ROM discs has started shipping in US market. Price includes Toshiba DVD-ROM drive, Diamond's Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)-based DVD adapter which delivers MPEG-2 video and Dolby Digital audio and five bundled discs. Latter comprises a Warner movie sampler, plus DVD-ROM titles Silent Steel by Tsunami, Encyclopedia Electronica by Xiphias, Wing Commander IV from Electronic Arts, and SpyCraft by Activision.
