Many DVD recorders from Southern Asia pose a digital piracy threat as they cannot decode CGMS-A, a royalty-free copy-protection format. This format constitutes the main piracy deterrent for top titles such as Warner's The Matrix Reloaded, as the blockbuster is not protected by Macrovision's copy protection.
