Chartered Expands Marketing Presence with New Vice President.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1996--Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing has announced that Ben A. Lee has joined the company as vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for all business planning and marketing activities worldwide. Lee, who will be based in Singapore at

the company's headquarters, reports to Ray Hawkins, senior vice president worldwide sales and marketing.

Lee joins Chartered from National Semiconductor Corporation, where he was senior marketing manager for the Personal Systems Strategic Business Unit. In that position, he was responsible for marketing National's products into the personal computer market which includes PC I/O, networking, multimedia, and analog power management integrated circuits.

Lee started his career as a system integration engineer at IBM's Federal Systems Division in New York. He joined National in 1989 and held positions in sales and marketing prior to his appointment as senior marketing manager in 1994.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an MBA in Marketing from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
