Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq:PSEM), a leading supplier of high-speed and mixed-signal integrated circuits, announced that Shujong (John) Cheng has joined the company as Vice President

During Cheng's 20-plus years of experience in the semiconductor industry, he has held positions that spanned test engineering services and management, production control, as well as quality and reliability management.

In his new position, Cheng will be responsible for business planning, logistics, production control, manufacturing, MIS (management information systems), quality, and facilities. Cheng reports directly to Alex Hui, Pericom's CEO, who said, "We are very fortunate to have John on our management team. His extremely broad experience in the critical manufacturing, test, and quality disciplines will ensure that we provide our global customer base with solid execution."

Before joining Pericom, Cheng was Vice President of Operations at Payon Technology in Fountain Valley, Calif. At Payon, a sister company of Kingston Technology, he managed the launch of Payon's operations in the U.S., Ireland, and Taiwan. Payon provides assembly and test operations for SDRAM and Rambus memory ICs.

Prior to Payon, Cheng held several industry positions with increasing responsibilities, including Hyundai, ESS Technology, Cypress Semiconductor, Integrated Device Technology (IDT), Atari, and Fairchild.

Cheng holds a B.S.E.E. degree from Tatung Institute of Technology in Taipei, Taiwan, and was granted a M.S.E.E. degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
