China Cable Broadcasting Network Exhibition
BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2004
WHO: Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXT), the worldwide leader
in semiconductor solutions for broadband communications,
enterprise networks and the digital home, will be
demonstrating several new semiconductor system platforms for
interactive and basic cable, satellite, and IP set-top box
(STB) products during the China Cable Broadcasting Network
Exhibition (CCBN 2004).
Product demonstrations will be held March 23-25 at the
Radisson SAS Hotel, next to the exhibition center in
Beijing.
ATTN: Editors and industry analysts covering DTV and STB products
and technologies.
WHAT: Conexant will demonstrate several new STB reference design
platforms based on its DVB-C, DVB-S, PVR and IP
technologies.
The DVB-C STB reference design is a compact, cost-effective
and is based on Conexant's CX24147 TV decoder IC. The
CX24147 has an integrated VCXO, complete system clock
generation from a single crystal, and high quality 10-bit
video DACs. The low cost front-panel design enables
manufacturers to reduce the BOM cost for STBs.
The DVB-S satellite STB reference design is based on
Conexant's CX24142 single chip DBS TV decoder IC. In
addition to the features of the CX24147 device, the CX24142
includes an integrated QPSK demodulator and FEC decoder,
DiSEqC 2.x support for two-way communication between STB and
LNB, and a direct interface to the Conexant front-end
silicon tuner CX24109. The result is a high-performance,
low-cost STB design useful for worldwide DVB-S markets.
The PVR interactive cable STB platform, based on Conexant's
CX24430 device, enables a DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 1.0/1.1 and
DVB-compliant broadband interactive channel with integrated
cable modem and advanced PVR support for simultaneous
recording and viewing of two channels. A powerful 250 MHz
ARM920T CPU supports STB applications, including advanced
cable STB platforms that can be developed rapidly using this
reference design platform.
The IP STB platform is based on Conexant technology that
decodes DSL-delivered, IP-based MPEG content for display on
a television. Formats supported include MPEG-1/2/4, H.264,
AVC and WMV. Home networking, with all wired and wireless
technologies, is also supported.
