Laser Measures Tight Tolerances.(Brief Article)

A laser scanner provides statistical process control and reverse engineering capability. It cuts the inspection of a part with 300 holes from two hours to two minutes.

Many parts made at Dumur Industries, White City, Sask., are difficult to measure, but the shop's business depends upon bad parts not going to the customer.

The bulk of the 50-employee, contract sheet metal fabricator's work comes from the electronics and computer industries. It also makes aftermarket automotive parts and final weldments for the Canadian Defense Department.
