DENVER— SIM2 USA is introducing at CEDIA Expo new Home Cinema “Scope” anamorphic lens options to optimally present projected source material in a variety of aspect ratios.

The anamorphic lens is designed for any SIM2 projector, and

a special motorized version will be offered for the company's new single-chip 1,080p HT-3000 projector, and 3-chip 720p C3X projector family.

The lens is designed to display video at a full 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The lens allows for full pixel resolution with better brightness and contrast than processors that stretch a letter-boxed image, throwing away up to 30 percent of the pixel resolution in the process, to fit the screen.

Users have the ability to maintain a set height of the image frame when shifting between sources with 16:9, 4:3 and 2.35.1 aspect ratios.

The Home Cinema “Scope” lens is available for most SIM2 projectors and will sell for $8,995, while the lens and a motorized sled designed for the HT-3000 and C3X family projectors will sell for an $11,999 suggested retail.

Also at the show, the company will demonstrate the recently introduced HT-3000 single-chip 1,080p front projector (shipping now at a $15,995 suggested retail), which is capable of displaying 1,080p source material, such as the new Blu-ray Disc format, at full-resolution. It features a 10-bit internal de-interlacer and scaling engine for optimal performance with other video sources, including DVD, 1,080i and 720p HDTV, and standard-definition cable or satellite transmissions.

The HT-3000 will also be available in October with an optional long-throw 2.0-3.0:1 ratio lens at a $16,995 suggested retail.

The projector uses Texas Instruments' new 0.95-inch native 1,080p DarkChip3 DMD chipset and end-to-end 10-bit video processing in combination with SIM2's proprietary Alpha Path light engine.

It employs a new seven-segment (RGBRGB + Neutral Density Filter) color wheel and a 200-watt high output lamp rated at a full 4,000 hour lifespan to achieve remarkable color depth and fidelity with a contrast ratio of more than 5,000:1 (full on/ full off). SIM2 live color management and gamma control functions are included to allow the projector to be customized for optimal performance, the company said.

Video performance is further enhanced with the company's new Dynamic Noise Reduction and Spatial Noise Reduction processing.

The HT3000 features two HDCP-compliant HDMI inputs, as well as VGA, component, composite, and S-Video inputs to accommodate a full range of video sources. RS-232 and IR input jacks are included to simplify integration with whole house control systems, and there are two 12V trigger outputs to control motorized screens and other support equipment.

The company was also planning “additional 1,080p announcements” at the show.
