Vitesse Gets New Ethernet Execs

Ethernet IC maker, Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., has appointed a new CTO and VP of engineering for its Ethernet products division.

Chi Fai Ho will serve as CTO and Paul Browne will serve as VP of engineering and report directly to the VP and general manager of the Ethernet products division,

Martyn Humphries. Ho will now be responsible for direction of all advanced technology, product direction and delivery of complete customer solutions for the division. Browne will handle all design engineering, architecture and product development for the division.

“Vitesse [now] has the most experienced management team in the Ethernet merchant silicon business,” said Humphries, in a statement. “Both individuals are well respected engineering leaders who have consistently developed successful Ethernet-based solutions for the market. Their breadth of engineering management, product development and market knowledge will be invaluable as we expand and diversify our product offerings globally.”

Ho previously served as VP of engineering for Tidal Networks. Before that he was senior director for Nokia Corp., heading a business program and system technology group on 3G and GPRS gateway platforms. Prior to Nokia he was VP of engineering for Amber Networks, which was acquired by Nokia. Ho has also held various engineering and management positions at Network Equipment Technology, Cisco and Unisys.  He holds over 35 U.S. patents in the areas of telecommunications, networking, Internet search and e-learning.

Browne joined Vitesse from 3Com where he held various management positions, most recently senior director of engineering.
