XACCT Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of business infrastructure software solutions for IP networks, and MANX Telecom Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of British Telecom (BT), today

announced that MANX has selected XACCTmobile for deployment throughout its network. XACCT's platform will capture network and application usage data for all of MANX's services -- including traditional voice telephony, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) cellular telephony, Internet access, video, interactive games, and Universal Mobile Telephone Service (UMTS). XACCTmobile will deliver the data to a wide range of Operations and Business Support (OSS/BSS) applications, including Manx's Cerillion customer care, billing, and Web front-end applications. Credited with having deployed the world's first commercial UMTS service, MANX's deployment of XACCT's platform will mark the first network-wide deployment of the company's Network-to-Business solution in a multi-service mobile network.

MANX will install XACCTmobile on the Isle of Man, where it provides fixed-line PSTN, GSM mobile, Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), ISP, and Web/e-commerce services. In addition to breaking new ground as the first commercial launch of UMTS in the world, this installation is the first deployment of the XACCT platform that interfaces with voice switches from Ericsson and with 3G switches from NEC and Siemens, offering a truly convergent, multi-service back-office infrastructure.
