Custom-made 3G Kits for UMTS Wireless Networks, Include All Components
Necessary to Speed Installation of an RF Path Subsystem
Andrew (NASDAQ:ANDW) continues
to expand the global production and distribution of 3G OnePack(SM) site kits by establishing site kitting at its distribution center in Madrid, Spain. Andrew has distribution centers and factories established throughout the world to support the kitting needs of 3G licensees. The Madrid, Spain, center will manage increased demands for UMTS OnePack Site Kits to support 3G buildouts in Spain. Shipments began from the Madrid center in December 2000."In fiscal year 2000, Andrew sold over 50,000 OnePack site kits globally," said John DeSana, Group President, RF Subsystems, Andrew Corporation. "In fiscal year 2001, we expect growth from our OnePack service to be in line with industry estimates indicating that 3G will need up to seven times more base stations than current technologies."
OnePack site kits are custom-configured with all the components necessary for a 3G RF path subsystem in a single, easy to manage package. Customers can specify their own combination of Andrew RF path products. This 3G kitting service is of significant value to 3G licensees seeking to shorten planning and building schedules without compromising system performance.
"The sheer cost of 3G licenses makes it critical that systems are built in as timely and efficient a manner as possible," said Mike Guerin, Andrew Corporation's Product Line Manager for HELIAX(R) products. "3G OnePack site kits speed system deployment and simplify supply chain management. At the end of the day we want Andrew customers to get quick returns on their 3G investment."
Andrew has a global network of distribution centers and factories in 27 countries that can support customers with their worldwide build-outs. "I invite all 3G licensees to make their site kitting requirements known to us and am confident that we can respond to those needs," added Guerin. Orders for 3G OnePack site kits can be tracked in real-time using the Andrew On-Line Order Status System.
A typical 3G OnePack site kit might include Andrew 3G-compliant products such as HELIAX(R) VXL flexible coaxial cables and cable assemblies, OnePiece(TM) connectors, SureFlex(TM) Micro-Cable assemblies, accessories, PerforMax(TM) base station antennas, GPS antennas, tower mounted amplifiers and filters, plus customer-specified third-party components. Andrew offers a standard delivery time of just 72 hours for customized kits; a priority service is also available that has a turnaround time of just 24 hours.
