German Company Wins $200 Million Order To Build New Wafer Fabrication Plant In Israel.(Brief...

Tower Semiconductor Inc. Israel selected the German Company Jenoptik Technology Group to build its new wafer fabrication plant. Construction of the plant is expected to begin by the end of this year and production of 0.1 8-micron chips at the finished facility is slated to start by early 2002. The plant will cost $1.5 billion to build and will be sited next to Tower's existing plant in Migdal Ha'emek. Jenoptik's subsidiary, M&W Zander specializes in the design, engineering, and management of built to order semiconductor facilities and together with Jenoptik will undertake the firs
