Silvaco Releases CLEVER -- the Industry's FirstTCAD-Driven Parasitic Extractor; Using 3-D TCAD...

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1998--Silvaco International today announced the industry's first TCAD-driven, cell-based, parasitic-extraction program. CLEVER models the entire cell structure in 3-D, therefore reducing development time by allowing designers to accurately determine

the complete cell parasitics.

CLEVER uses physically based lithography, deposition, etch and oxidation models to accurately simulate the true 3-D geometry of a cell as manufactured. An efficient field solver is applied to generate a fully back-annotated SPICE netlist of the cell.

"Silvaco is continuing to deliver solutions that enable customers to make better decisions about their designs," said Dr. Ivan Pesic, President and CEO of Silvaco. "Our new product, CLEVER, does that by providing far more accurate simulations, helping customers develop the best quality products. The TCAD-driven 3-D capabilities of CLEVER is the only way to ensure high levels of accuracy while working with today's more complex IC processes."

Benefits of Using CLEVER

-- Accuracy -- realistic, physical representation of cell geometry

based on 3-D process simulation -- Flexibility -- prototype layout changes for cell design or

process changes for technology development -- Ease of use -- examination of large and complex cells from GDSII

files -- Efficiency -- complete and annotated SPICE netlists of active

devices and parasitics -- Integration -- complements full chip LPE from Cadence (NYSE:

CDN), Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ:MENT) and Avant! (NASDAQ:AVNT)

Pricing and Availability

CLEVER is available now and priced from $150,000. Volume discounts are available for site license purchases.
