Harris Corp. has appointed Leon Shivamber to the newly created position of corporate vice president for supply chain management and operations. Shivamber, 43, is set to work with company leadership to develop and implement new procurement and logistics plans expected to deliver new cost reductions while improving Harris' core processes. Shivamber was most recently president of Vertisync, a New York-based supply chain service company that he founded in 2001. From 1996 to 2001, he held senior positions for supply chain management, product management and strategic planning at Arrow Electronics, an $8 billion global distributor of electronic components. Prior to joining Arrow, Shivamber spent 10 years in management consulting with McKinsey and Co. and New York Consulting Partners, where he led supply chain and operations activities for such U.S. and international clients as Colgate Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Medsource Technologies, Michelin and Motorola. Harris Corp. is an international communications equipment and systems company based in Melbourne, Fla. The company had sales of $1.9 billion in fiscal 2002.
