FunMail and CMG Wireless

Data Solutions announced a broad partnership today centered around the FunMail Wireless messaging system and CMG's Wireless Service Broker(TM) platform supporting i-mode in Europe. Under the partnership, FunMail and CMG will help promote and integrate FunMail's carrier-grade visual messaging solution to European wireless. FunMail will also share its i-mode development expertise with CMG in order to contribute to the Wireless Service Broker(TM) success for other i-mode developers. FunMail will extensively leverage its i-mode development experience in this relationship. FunMail launched a commercial version of their FunMail messaging service on DoCoMo's i-mode service in Japan in May, 2001.

"We are very pleased to have entered into this partnership with CMG," said FunMail CEO Adam Lavine. "FunMail's extensive expertise in visual wireless messaging and i-mode technology development combined with CMG's excellent Wireless Service Broker(TM) platform and industry relationships will be a powerful combination."

"This is a win-win relationship," said Geert Kolthof, Vice President Mobile Internet of CMG Wireless Data Solutions. "We think CMG and FunMail by working together can quickly bring attractive visual messaging and i-mode services to the European market."

CMG is the i-mode system integrator and has a close working relationship with NTT DoCoMo. The Wireless Service Broker(TM) platform will support i-mode installations, and also other wireless technologies such as location based services and WAP push. "There are some interesting opportunities to triangulate CMG's core Wireless Service Broker(TM) technology with FunMail's dynamic rendering capabilities," said Adam Lavine. "We really like push technologies, it's a great way to deliver FunMails right to the phone. And combining that capability with location based services brings up interesting possibilities for advertisers like Starbucks, where users can opt-in for entertaining animated coupons that are delivered directly to their phones."
