I'm currently finding out if I can actually replace my laptop with my smartphone for a two week vacation.  My Lenovo X200 is tiny, but hiking in the Andes I don't want to carry it in my pack.

So I've turned to my trusty HTC Touch Pro running Windows Mobile 6.1  I've tricked it out pretty well with what I need.  I can VPN in to my work network and RDP to my computer if I have to. I have two sixteen GB micro SD cards from Sandisk, one of which I loaded with music and video (If you want to know just how geeky I am these are downloaded off of my DVR and re-encoded to be viewed on the small screen) and the other contains all of my current files for work in case I need them.

The HTC Touch Pro has a slide out keyboard.  I'm also bringing my beloved ThinkOutside Bluetooth keyboard because I can touch type on it.  I have a spare battery for both plus an external battery that charges anything with a USB port.

The phone has WiFi so I can check mail from Internet cafes and hotel lobbies.  It's unlocked and I have a pay-as-you-go Telefonica SIM left over from when I was in Spain in December.

What do you think?  Could you leave your laptop behind?
