Plastic substrate liquid-crystal display panel developed.(Brief Article)

Matsushita Electronics Corp has succeeded in developing a colour liquid-crystal display (LCD) panel using a plastic substrate.

Kagoshima Matsushita Electronics Co Ltd, its wholly-owned subsidiary, made the prototype panel, and the company said it plans to start mass production of the colour LCD panels for mobile telephones as early as February 2001.

The prototype is a 4.3 cm diagonal (1.7 inch) super-twisted nematic LCD panel with 256 colou
