New robots from Fanuc Robotics North America have six axes of motion (one linear and five rotary), affording them increased maneuverability and mobility, the company reports. These robots are said to be capable of servicing multiple machines, stations, or operations. Moreover, their six-axis dexterity reportedly enables them to reorient parts between operations and/or service both vertical and horizontal machines.

Fanuc's new family of overhead rail-mounted robots are said to be the first six-axis, top-loading robots in North America. Available in three models-M-6iT, M
