SENECA FALLS - New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) will offer a master's degree program in clinical anatomy beginning in the fall of 2007.

The program, which recently received approval from the New York State Department of Education, will train those with a doctorate degree in chiropractics to teach applied clinical anatomy for medical, chiropractic, and dental programs, says Dr. Beth Donohue, director of accreditation at NYCC.

The need for new anatomy teachers is becoming apparent as current teachers grow older. "They're getting to be retirement age," she says.

NYCC will accept one or two students into the two-year program each fall. "We're not looking at having any more than five students in the program at any one time," Donohue says.

The number of students is being limited because the program is a very intense and focused program, she says. Class subjects include gross anatomy, developmental anatomy, preparation as a college educator, neuroanatomy, teaching methodology, and histology.
