ABSTRACT. Authentic Movement is a body-based meditative discipline that involves moving and stillness within a structured space. The movement aspect of the discipline is a free-associative process of physical movement from impulses that occur inside or come through the body. The stillness aspect of the discipline, which is called witnessing, is similar to some forms of mindfulness meditation in which attention is focused on awareness of the contents of consciousness.
