WHEN: 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2002 WHERE: Merv Griffin's Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills 9876 Wilshire Blvd. WHY: Inner-City Arts is dedicated to bringing the arts into the lives of the children who live in and near Los Angeles' inner city. Through bilingual, innovative programs in the visual and performing arts, the organization encourages self-expression and creativity while building the skills children need to succeed in school. Inner-City Arts recently began construction in the addition of 24,000 square feet, which will enable the organization to provide services for 20,000 students a year -- 12,000 more than can presently be served. The innovative architectural designs of Michael Maltzan are transforming decaying warehouses into a state-of-the-art animation studio, a professional-quality theatre that will expand programs for middle and high school students, a new visual arts center, a newly-created outdoor teaching space, a second ceramics studio, a library and conference center.
