Feb. 23--GUILFORD COUNTY -- Commissioners approved Thursday spending $12.9 million in general obligation bonds proceeds for several projects, including a new $5.4 million Department of Social Services building in High Point. In an odd voting twist, only one of three commissioners from High Point approved the package in the 7-2 vote. Democratic Commissioner Bruce Davis did not attend the Greensboro meeting, and Republican Commissioner Steve Arnold voted against the bonds following a public hearing.
