Brussels, Belgium -- In 2004 the market for corrugated packaging, the number one transport packaging material in the world, has grown at the same rate as the European GDP. However the situation differs significantly on a country by country basis across member states. In Eastern European countries growth was rapid in contrast to that of Western Europe. In the case of France, market volume stagnated. As a result of the further market penetration of lower weight paper qualities, the average weight of boxes declined slightly.
