Outokumpu Technology has developed a new high-capacity filter, the CERAMEC[R] CC-45 HiFlow, for the treatment of iron-ore fines. Iron-ore concentrate fines can be treated at a capacity of 50-150 t/h with a single machine of 45 [m.sup.2] area, which is sufficient to replace a conventional vacuum filter of 100 [m.sup.2]. According to Venkatesh Viswanathan, the manager of Outokumpu Technology's Australian filtration product line, this major reduction in filter area has the potential to reduce operating costs significantly.
