Finally, as his last days as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board slip away, people are starting to get the point Alan Greenspan has been making for 18 years. As the architect of U.S. monetary policy, Greenspan has confounded analysts, traders, and policymakers. Much of his public commentary is dense with abstract statements of data and its vague implications. It doesn't matter, because for most of us it's been enough that the U.S. economy has ripped through an explosive growth pattern in that time.
