"The Big Spin(R)" Show, airing this Saturday, December 6, 2003, will feature Assemblymember Russ Bogh who will present the Lottery's "Funds at Work" Award to Beaumont Unified School District in

Beaumont.

Despite the economic downturn and budget cuts, Beaumont Unified has established itself as an academic leader in Riverside County by resourcefully putting Lottery funds to work. Lottery funds are used for instructional material and equipment such as computers, textbooks, desks, chairs, and to provide an exceptional fine arts program throughout the district. This program offers fine arts electives to students from elementary grades through high school. These include Beaumont High School's marching band, choir, drum core, flag team and other instrumental and choral classes.

In addition to providing a fine arts curriculum, Lottery funds also enable the district to provide equipment and transportation needed to run these programs. This includes musical instruments, sheet music and band uniforms, all purchased with Lottery funds. Assemblymember Russ Bogh explains, "On behalf of the California Lottery, it is my privilege to present the 'Funds at Work' Award to Beaumont Unified School District for their extraordinary implementation of Lottery funds."

The California Lottery's distinguished "Funds at Work" Award has been presented on "The Big Spin(R)" television show since April of 2001. The Lottery enlists various Legislators to present these awards which recognize public schools and school districts that have made innovative and extraordinary efforts using their supplemental Lottery funds.
