Israel is on its way to record low inflation. Israel's November consumer price index did not increase and overall for the first 11 months of the year 2000, and prices have barely risen. So far this year prices have gone up by only 0.10 percent and if December's index is within estimates, the year 2000 will register the lowest inflation rate since Israel was established. To date the lowest inflation rate for a full year was recorded in 1966 when prices increased by 0.20 percent. Israel during that period was in a deep recession.
