Government data: issies of accuracy and of access.

When it comes to U.S. economic data, about the highest profile piece of data is the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is the overall measurement of the U.S. economy The data is calculated by the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Affairs (BEA).

This past July, the BEA was forced to make some rather dramatic revisions to its measurements of the U.S. economy in 2001. Some examples:
