Navy Briefs Ship Repairers in Portsmouth, Va., on $205.6 Million Contract.

Apr. 23--PORTSMOUTH, Va. -- Nearly 100 ship repairers turned out for a Navy briefing Thursday about a $205.6 million contract for work on a group of amphibious assault ships. It was a higher-than-expected turnout, especially since only one yard will win it.

They packed a meeting room at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel to hear what officials from Naval Sea Systems Command, or Navsea, the Navy's contracting arm, had to say about the contract.
