More than three years ago, ASM past president Dr. Alton D. Romig, Jr., FASM, chief technology officer, Sandia National Laboratories, and Mim John, vice president, Sandia California Laboratory, advocated that Sandia expand its research efforts in the emerging field of biotechnology - the coming together of traditional inorganic sciences of physics, engineering and chemistry with biology.
