IT WAS an unusual Sunday indeed. Amid the usual church mass, the weekend
baseball, football and Nascar car race, Americans also went to war last
Sunday. Fifty Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from US warships and
at least one British submarine roared into the Gulf night, making their
way towards targets in Afghanistan.
Simultaneously, scores of American bombers flew high in the
Afghanistan skies and unloaded their packages, addressed in bold to Osama
bin Laden and the Taliban.
