Home security and satellite television may not seem to have much in common, but for David Lindsey, they were a perfect fit.

The owner of Defender Direct found a way to combine the two services into a successful business - one that is the second fastest-growing private company in the Indianapolis area.

With headquarters on the northeast side of Indianapolis and offices in most major U.S. markets, Defender Direct handles installation and service for residential ADT and DISH Network clients around the country.

The company is the largest ADT dealer in the country and the second-largest dealer for DISH. Revenue increased 485 percent, from $9.2 million in 2004 to $54 million in 2006.

Staying focused on the residential market has been the key to the company's growth, according to Lindsey. When he started out as an ADT dealer in 1998, he considered expanding into the commercial security market before deciding that homes would be his staple.
