Medford, Ore., Authorities Warn Residents about Illegal Pyramid Scheme.

Dec. 23--Some Medford women are being invited to an exclusive dinner party, but it's an invitation they should turn down, police said.

An illegal pyramid investment scheme, known as the "Women's Gifting Circle," is recruiting in Medford, investigators said. The pyramid uses dinner-course terminology and closely resembles an earlier scam brought to light in May 2000 -- but only after some participants lost money.
