Reading this massive, sprawling biography of Ariel Sharon is a little like reading a lengthy synopsis of the news about Israel and the Palestinian Arabs during the past 60 years. Ariel Sharon was, from his early years, a major player in the struggle for the Jewish State. His role, however, was primarily a military and strategic one and only within the last two decades, a political one.
