Zoho is a Software as a Service (SaaS) provider of business applications. Everything is free and from what I hear the apps are more than decent. I've only dabbled with a few to try them out. Maybe you should too? Do you really want to have to shell out a few hundred bucks to run Microsoft Office on every PC you have? I've heard good things about Zoho CRM. They also offer, email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
PLEASANTON, Calif. — May 14, 2008 — Zoho today announced that it is welcoming Google and Yahoo! users with a unified login designed to encourage those users to try Zoho applications. Now, Google and Yahoo! users who visit www.zoho.com can simply log into Zoho using the usernames and passwords associated with their Google and Yahoo! accounts.
“In several polls and reviews, we noticed that users prefer our applications to online alternatives,” said Raju Vegesna, Zoho evangelist. “For Google and Yahoo! users who are curious about Zoho but don’t want to set up another account, we’ve removed that hurdle. Users don’t have to create a Zoho account to use Zoho applications. We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to try our online apps.”
Greeting Google, Yahoo! Users
Zoho makes it easy for Google and Yahoo! users to login to Zoho:
1) On Zoho’s homepage, users will see “Sign in using Google or Yahoo! account.”
2) The user clicks on the link to Google or Yahoo! to reach the Google or Yahoo! login page and submits his or her username and password.
3) After granting permission for Zoho to access the Google or Yahoo! account information, the user is directed to Zoho.
No separate login is required for Zoho.
A user can optionally map his or her Google or Yahoo! account with an existing Zoho account, integrating the accounts under a common username. Otherwise, the user can create a new Zoho account by choosing a unique username. In addition, users can import contacts from their Google or Yahoo! accounts to the Contacts section under a Zoho account at http://accounts.zoho.com.
This functionality is also useful for sharing documents. Now users can share their documents with their friends that have Google or Yahoo! accounts, and they can login with their Google or Yahoo! credentials to view the shared document without having to create a new Zoho account.
