Ad Naus : Shake, rattle & hum

Classic Car is our first brand ad for Lotto that reiterates the eternal question, what would you do?

In this case, a well-intentioned young man surprises his father with a generous but entirely misguided gift.

To bring the story to life we enlisted the expert talent of Adam and Mark from

Robber's Dog.

They found us a lovely location for the shoot in the salubrious Te Atatu North under a high-tension power line (think the castle).

Even though the weather was less than perfect, we seemed to be blessed when filming this campaign. The talent was fantastic and even the sun popped its head out when it was needed.

The highlight of the shoot, of course, was the pimped car. When that monstrosity pulled into the driveway you could've heard a pin drop (if it wasn't for the hum of the high-tension power lines).

We all just stood there with stupid grins on our faces as the hydraulic suspension threw the Jag up and down in the air as confused public drove by.

Our client Wendy Rayner said: "I am not sure I ever laughed on set as much as I did on the shoot for Classic Car. It was the second most fun shoot I have ever attended ... I can tell you about my favourite in another few months as it is the second in the series after Classic Car."

Wendy also said that, since the launch of Classic Car, NZ Lotteries has received calls and emails telling them how much people love the ad, asking for copies, asking if they can come and see the car and even one who thought we might have secretly filmed her life and turned it into a commercial. The response has been wonderful.

It's been a great month for Lotto Classic Car. The tvc currently sits at #5 in this month's TV Top 10 (Page 52), and earlier this month it was named Best Ad (by public vote) at the Fair Go Ad Awards. - Ed
