Consumers in the UK are drinking more hot beverages and soft drinks, with resaerch suggesting that iced tea sales could eventually outstrip colas. Research by Premier Beverages shows that sales of hot drinks now total 1.4 billion pounds sterling a year, with the food drinks segment rising the fastest and worth 123 million pounds sterling. Tea sales are valued at 664 million pounds sterling, with volume at 131,179 t. A report from beverage industry research specialist Canadean shows that sales of iced tea products in Europe will grow by some 33% in 1994 to reach around 1 billion lt.
