PET resin consumption increases

PET resin is widely used as a basic material for plastic packaging because it is tough, has the lowest specific weight among other basic materials for plastic bottles, and resistant to acid, basic, and other chemicals. Because of its characteristics, PET resin can be used to make bottles for mineral water and soft drinks and packaging for negative films and other types of film plastic.

Overall, the consumption of PET resin by the plastic bottle and PET film industries has continued to increase. For 1992, for example, the total demand for PET resin is estimated at 39,000 t
