IAQ seminar planned

The Mechanical Systems Hygiene Institute's (MSHI) third annual technical seminar, "IAQ in Sensitive Environments: Cleaning Hygiene for Educational Facilities" will be held June 2 to 3, 2000 in Fort Worth, TX.

MSHI is a division of ASCR International, an authority on the professional service,

refurbishment, and cleaning of mechanical air distribution systems.

The event will feature speakers, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and tabletop exhibits. This year's topic follows last year's seminar that focused on ventilation cleaning in health care facilities.

The institute states that a healthy indoor environment in educational facilities is especially important because children are particularly susceptible to the effects of air pollution. The seminar is intended to prepare attendees to perform the challenging diagnostics, remediation, and cleaning work needed in our educational facilities:

According to a report by the U.S. Government Accounting Office, more than half of U:S. schools have problems that affect IAQ. Nearly one in five schools has at least one room with radon levels above the EPA recommended action level of 4 pCi/L, according to the same report. In addition to ample anecdotal evidence, these factors illustrate the growth opportunity in the educational facilities segment of the IAQ marketplace.

According to MSHI Seminar Chairman Rich Johns, "This is one technical seminar IAQ professionals will not want to miss." At this time there are 13 experts from across the U.S. scheduled to make presentations on an gray of IAQ topics and disciplines related to sensitive environments.
