Is the consolidation trend over or is there more to come?

During the past five years, HVAC consolidation has taken on a variety of guises, ranging from corporations to manufacturers, from utility companies

to retail stores. Regardless of its form, the trend has had a huge impact on the industry, as contractors either embraced the concept and sold their businesses or looked for ways to stay successfully independent.

Currently, there seems to be a lull in consolidation activity, and there is much speculation on what lies ahead. While our panel members expressed a wide variety of opinions, they all agreed on one point: It's not over yet. Here's what they had to say.

Residential Consolidators. Do They Have What It Takes?

During this discussion, most of the residential panelists expressed a cautious wait-and-see attitude toward the future impact of consolidation. While they don't feel consolidators are a tremendous threat, they're also not ignoring their potential.
