Mission-critical projects require good customer communications and close attention to detail.

To many of us, mission-critical facilities sound like the 7-Eleven of the contracting business because they're open 24 hours a day, but they're much more than that. The number of these facilities is growing rapidly because of the services they offer their customers. They also offer good opportunities for Design/Build contractors.

Mission-critical facilities are data centers, web-hosting centers, co-location spaces, server environments, and telecommunications switch rooms. They have many advantages for Design/Build contractors, and the mission-critical customer demands a Design/Build format.

The Mission-critical Market

Two things of interest to contractors are currently happening in this market. The first is that the communications market is exploding. Communications companies are coming out of the woodwork all over the country. Long distance carriers have started to build their own switch sites for their customers.
