ARLINGTON, VA - Combined U.S. factory shipments of 780,407 central air conditioners and airsource heat pumps for March were up seven percent, compared to shipments from the same month last year, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI). U.S. factory shipments of unitary air conditioners and heat pumps during March 2005 (see Chart A):
* totaled 780,407,
* up 7% from March 2004,
* year-to-date total 1,667,520,
* up 5% from January - March 2004.
Heat pump shipments included in the March 2005 figures (see Chart B):
* totaled 188,512,
* up 12% from March 2004,
* year-to-date total 442,415,
* up 6% from January - March 2004.
March 2005 factory stocks:
* up 67,261 units from February 2005,
* down 68,581 units from March 2004.
March 2005 distributor inventories:
* up 98,210 units from February 2005,
* up 94,122 units from March 2004.
March 2005 distributor shipments:
* up 7% from March 2004,
* year-to-date shipments up 9%.
