RSES is offering the new Manual J-8 Abridged Edition, published by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, to its members. The new manual is a practical version of the ACCA Manual J- Residential Load Calculation (New Eighth Edition), the industry-standard residential load calculation manual. This condensed version makes learning MJS procedures and hand calculation methods easier.

Several educational tools and methods are offered throughout the Manual J-8 Abridged Edition to help make the learning process easier. The manual provides thorough instructions for estimating heat loss and heat gain for residential structures and helps to simplify complicated procedures that are often used on a variety of home applications.

Other features include: basic principles of heat transfer, R-Values, UValues, and heat transfer multipliers; and a step-by-step example of a singlezone, single-family, detached calculation for an entire house room-by-room.
