How and why to use Manual J

Some days I sit and wonder why I go through the effort of performing Manual J load calculations

At Eberts Energy Center in Mansfield, OH, we have a tagline at the end of all of our advertisements: "Your comfort is our concern." Without using Manual J calculations to be sure I'm selecting the right equipment for each customer, I'd only be guessing if the equipment were right. And the comfort of the customer would not be my primary concern, only the money in my pocket.

Of course, money is a concern, but with proper training on Manual J, taking care of customers properly from the start saves a lot of money in the long run. How? It takes a lot of money to get a customer in the first place. Advertising isn't getting cheaper, but word of mouth is inexpensive if you do the job right in the first place. The first step in doing the job right is performing Manual J load calculations.
