A Systems Approach Keeps Controlco Ahead of the Competition

When Harry C. Schink started his wholesale controls company in 1958 as the Harry Schink Supply Company, he expected it to provide solutions, not just sell replacement parts. A former Honeywell branch

manager, he was a "systems guy." Eight years later, another former Honeywell employee and "systems guy," George A. Johnson, joined the business as a partner, and the company was renamed Controlco.

The business philosophy of those two systems guys remains firmly in place today: a proactive business that identifies problems for customers and provides solutions. Over the years, this formerly Bakersfield-based company has expanded to eight branch offices in northern and central California and one branch in southern California. Now called Controlco Automation Distributors, the company's growth has mirrored California's. As industry settled in California, Controlco was there to help them set up their controls systems.
